The Last Dragon Returns to Motown
Finally The Last Dragon comes back to Motown! When the first annual The D-Lux Entertainment Expo comes to Detroit at the end of March it will be a reunion for 2 of the stars of the 1985 Motown meets Kung-Fu cult classic Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon. Taimak Guarriello (Leroy Green aka Bruce Leroy) and Ernie Reyes Jr. (Tai -Leroy’s youngest and most kick-ass student) were only 20 and 13 when The Last Dragon was released. It was the first film for both Marital Artists’ turned Actors and according to Taimak this will be the first event they have attended together since the 80’s flick that launched their careers. Update March 5, 2014 – Glen Eaton aka Johnny Yu is also coming!!
What is the D-Lux Entertainment Expo
The D-Lux Entertainment Expo is set to be one of the most exciting, fun, energetic and amazing events of the year. It takes place March 28-30, at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Mount Clements, Michigan (just outside of Detroit).
The Host, Adam Lux a ranked national Martial Arts competitor and successful school owner, has combined the worlds of Hollywood, Martial Arts, WWE, Comic Book and Pop Culture for an event that will be talked about forever! The 3 day event will feature a talented line-up of celebrities, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume World Record attempt, comic-con style vendor expo with celebrity autographs and panels, collectibles and memorabilia, cosplay, MMA Fights, Celebrity Martial Arts seminars, as well as a karate, taekwondo and grappling tournament and much more…
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Costume Guinness Book World Record Attempt
On Friday March 28, 2013 the D-Lux Expo is calling all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans to help break the Guinness Book World Record for most TMNT costumes in one room. The previous mark of 836 was in set March 17, 2012 was set at The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. By the outpouring of support from TMNT fans on Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms it looks like there is a good chance that the record will fall. Fans will also get to see Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman and Turtles stars Ernie Reyes Jr. (Keno in TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze and as Donatello’s stunt double in TMNT I) and Leif Tilden (Donatello, Foot Soldier) In addition the Turtle Van will be delivering FREE PIZZA! Meet Taimak “Bruce Leroy” Guarriello
Many celebrities will be attending this event but fans of this blog will be most interested in meeting the one and only Bruce Leroy!! If you live in the Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Ontario, Illinois or upstate New York area this is your chance to meet, get a picture and autograph from Taimak the Legendary Bruce Leroy himself. After years of emails, pms and phone calls I am looking forward to meeting him at this event as well.
Meet Ernie Reyes Jr.
Ernie was the youngest black belt to ever compete in adult forms at eight years old and he has been kicking ass on-screen for most of his life. He’s starred in many films since 1985’s The Last Dragon. Best known for his roles in Surf Ninjas, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Red Sonja with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sidekicks aka The Electric Knights with Gil Gerard, and The Rundown- yes that was him pummeling Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!
